Cecile trialled with Team SCA, the Volvo Ocean Race team for 2014-15 and spent 6 months training intensely with the squad. Cecile remained affiliated to the team as a reserve “under 30” crew member for the team.
Cecile is a qualified Naval Architect and over the last few years, has shared her time between engineering and her passion of sailing, combining the two by working with America’s Cup design teams. With her engineering skill set, Cecile worked on the shore side, as technical support for The Boatyard, a travelling ‘pit crew’ operation with the sole purpose of maintaining the Volvo Ocean 65 fleet during the Volvo Ocean Race.
She has also been logging many offshore racing and sailing miles, as well as competing in several national championships and Grand Prix regattas around the world which pulled her back to France to pursue her dream of sailing the single-handed offshore series.
Cecile has been skippering the Figaro yacht n°18 since October 2015 and is making her debut this year on the circuit.
I am super excited to join the Magenta Project: to help promote women in high-level sports and sailing in particular and inspire youngsters. We are represented in major disciplines of the sailing world: match racing, Volvo Ocean Race, Bénéteau Figaro circuit, which makes it a highly respected group.
