The Magenta Project is pleased to announce Olympic Gold Medallist, joins us as an Ambassador. Xu Lijia (Lily) won the gold medal in the women’s laser radial class race at the 2012 Summer Olympics. It was China and Asia’s first ever Olympic gold in dinghy sailing.

On the announcement Lily commented “Being part of the Magenta Project means we can accumulate as much power & voice as possible for women’s sports, especially female sailing. So that we can raise the general awareness around the world in order to create more opportunities for women.”

Lily already has a strong bond with the former Team SCA crew, having been an Ambassador to the project during the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race. Lily recently caught up with Libby Greenhalgh at the London Dinghy Show where she launched her autobiography ‘Golden Lily’, a fascinating insight into her journey to Olympic Gold.
