The Magenta Project continues to develop its activities in line with its mission, activating on a number of levels within sailing and the marine industry.

We provide pathways to accelerate women through education, training, coaching, and our community.

Based on the principle values of collaboration, diversity, opportunity, challenge and performance, The Magenta Project Foundation is leading a growing movement across oceans. The organization effectively drives change by building on the success of its leadership, athletes and ambassadors to accomplish the following goals:

• Leverage the excitement of sailing to inspire interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
• Enable women to acquire the training/skills needed to narrow the gender gap for career advancement.
• Celebrate the accomplishments of extraordinary women across the globe.

The Magenta Project addresses education, workforce and leadership development, and gender equity through the following mission-based programs:


builds confidence and develops the abilities of individuals to interact and work effectively with others within a team setting. Through presentations, workshops and clinics individuals learn to how to set goals, inspire and guide others to achieve them; collaborate, communicate, solve problems and resolve conflicts effectively.


Magenta STEM CREW 

inspires youth, ages 8-13, to seize experience based learning opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) through the exciting platform of sailing. Youth are invited to create clubs linking to a global, interactive online curriculum and accessing a direct line of communication to Magenta Project sailors and ambassadors.


accelerates the performance of female sailors to compete at the highest level of the sport through on-water training. The goal is to broaden the horizons of up and coming female sailors, inspiring participants to build new teams, take on new roles, and offering women an opportunity to sail high performance boats and learn from the Magenta network of performance athletes.



drives opportunities and creates pathways for high school and college women to develop technical skills for career advancement in the marine industry. The Magenta Project hosts enterprise days and develops longer term work experience and apprenticeship placements with industry leaders and partners.

We encourage all our supporters and everyone in the sailing industry to join with us to make sailing a fully equal sport by:

  • Having mixed gender crews
  • Providing equal access and opportunities for women within professional sailing and as they learn and progress through the sport
  • Sharing knowledge, skills and experience with female sailors
  • Helping to support and fund the work that we at the Magenta Project do
